Salina Catholic Daughters is an organization made up of women from all three Salina Parishes. Membership is also open to women from other communities. The Mission Statement of the organization: Catholic Daughters of the Americas strives to embrace the principle of faith working through love in the promotion of justice equality and the advancement of human rights and human dignity for all.
CDA of Salina meets once a month from September thru May on the First Saturday of the Month at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Hall of Bishops, with the exception of the March Meeting when CDA of Salina sponsors the Salina Annual Lenten Retreat. We usually have one social a year and also honor the religious of the community with a meal or gift card. Schedules are made up during the summer months with current members volunteering their time to meet and organize.
Catholic Daughters sponsors three fundraiser breakfasts at the three parishes. Funds received are used for charitable causes and student scholarship(s). Each year the Salina CDA participates in the National Organization’s Education Contest for students in PRE, CYO, and Catholic Schools. Winners are honored at the May Meeting. CDA also offers a scholarship (s) to a Catholic graduating girl (s) from the Salina Parishes. The number of scholarships, varies on the fundraising success. Each year the local court adopts charities in Salina to volunteer time or provide funds. Examples are: Cooking and serving a meal to Circles of the Heartland; Birthright; Catholic Charities; Domestic Violence (DVACK); Habitat for Humanity; Salina Rescue Mission.
Catholic Daughters is a great way for women of all ages – 18 – 100 to connect with other Catholic Women in our Salina Community and throughout the Americas. Every Catholic Daughter member shares in every Mass celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Altar in our National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
